Obituary

Pattie Cude Dillon, age 93, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Jacob’s Creek Nursing Center in Madison.  She was born on September 24, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late James and Shellie Reid Cude.  Pattie was the oldest of five children.  She grew up on the South Side of Winston-Salem.  Pattie was confirmed in the Moravian Church, first attending Immanuel Moravian.  After her marriage to Gehany Robert “Matt” Dillon on October 29, 1948 she attended Loves Methodist Church before joining Gospel Light Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for many years. She was active in the choir and played piano for many church activities.  In 2010 she joined Advent Moravian Church where she faithfully attended until her health declined. Pattie continued to love and enjoy playing piano while health permitted.  She graduated from Gray High School.  Pattie started working at Western Electric, later Lucent Technologies, at the age of nineteen and retired in 1981. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Matt Dillon on August 4, 2008, just two months shy of their 60th anniversary.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Don and Mike Cude; six sisters-in-law, Sally and Violet Dillon, Lula Fulton, and Juanita, Judy, and Janice Cude; three brothers-in-law, Albert and Bill Dillon, and E.M. Fulton.

Pattie is survived by her daughter, Joan D. Smith and husband J.L. of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Kim Reed of Winston-Salem, Tina Newsom and Wesley (Anna) Kleitches of Kernersville; seven great-grandchildren, Hanna (Deven) Williams of Phoenix Arizona, Dillon and Lauren Newsom, Kyla and Hope Kleitches, Leirre and Holly Bloch all of Kernersville; one great-grandchild, Jiraiya Phillip Williams of Phoenix, AZ; one brother, Jimmy Cude; her special friend, Bob Sparks, who along with his family she spent her remaining years with; sister-in-law, Jo Etta Cude; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 4, 2023 at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Walkertown with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.  A sincere gratitude is sent to the staff members of Arbor Ridge and Jacob’s Creek Nursing Center, with special thanks to Leah Spencer.  The family also wishes to express thankfulness to all the family, friends, and loved ones that have shared their love, prayers, and support over the past several years.  Pattie loved her Advent Church family and in lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial gifts be made to the church, 1514 West Clemmonsville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
