Patty Sue (Byerly) Floyd

Mrs. Patty Sue Byerly Floyd, 79, of Buckingham Lane went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.

Patty was born on January 10, 1942 to the late Thurman James Byerly and Annie Hunt Byerly Hedrick in Davidson County. She worked as a secretary and treasurer for Davidson County Schools System for more than 30 years her position was primarily held at Ledford Middle School. Patty was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville. For over 50 years, she served in the children’s ministries at the church, serving as 1st grade Sunday school teacher. Patty was also a church board member and served as treasurer for over 20 years. She was faithful to serve the Lord in any way she could. She was a member of Pilot Lady Lioness Club and Ledford Middle School Retirees.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Raymond Hedrick; infant brother, James Byerly.

Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Henry “Pete” Floyd of the home; two daughters, Dreama Floyd of High Point, Jennifer Kindley (Chad) of Thomasville; a brother, Harold Wayne Byerly (Janie) of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Haley Tuttle (Damian Williams), Sydney Tuttle, Ryan Tuttle; great-grandson, Waylon Williams; a nephew, Marc Byerly (Amanda); a niece, Hope Byerly; great-niece, Reese.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville with Rev. Dr. Keith Carroll and Rev. Luke Jackson officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:00 until the hour of the service. Memorials are to be sent to Mt. Zion Wesleyan children’s department, 222 Mt. Zion Church Rd. Thomasville, NC 27360.
