Mr. Paul Douglas Swaim, 95 of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Paul was born on March 11, 1927 to the late Arthur and Julia Swaim.
Paul was a proud WWII veteran, being stationed in Italy during his enlistment. Paul graduated from High Point College with a BBA. He would later go on to work in the transportation industry, finally retiring from AT&T. For those who knew Paul, they knew how much he loved spending time outdoors. He had a green thumb and loved growing flowers and tending to his vegetable garden and would can what he grew every summer while he was able. One could often find him bird-watching from his swing outside his and Dee’s home. While able, he and his wife, Dee, loved traveling, spending time at the beach together, and cheering for the Braves and attending a Braves game whenever they could. They faithfully followed every ballgame on tv.
In addition to his parents, those preceding Paul in death include his brother Arthur “Bid” Swaim; and sisters, Nell Rose Cude and Doris Swaim.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixty-four years, DeLois (Dee) Shepherd Swaim; son, Mark Douglas Swaim; daughters, Beverly Swaim, and Lisa Sprinkle (Terry); sister, Linda Spry; grandchildren, Brent Sprinkle (Stefani) and Brittany Smejkal (Jake); and great-grandchildren: Rohan Sprinkle, Rexton Sprinkle, Remnant Sprinkle, and Solomon Smejkal.
