Peggy Wilson Obituary

Ms. Peggy Jean Collins Wilson, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at GreyBrier Nursing Home in Archdale, NC. She was born on May 5, 1932, in Guilford County, NC to Claude Collins and Marion Helen Booth Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Donald “Sonny” Collins and her sisters, Bettye Zane Mendenhall and Doris Joan Bouldin.

Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Wilson Jones and husband Clifton of Trinity; granddaughter, Hollie Jones Beaver and husband Christopher of Advance; grandson, Christopher Duane Jones and wife Brittany of Thomasville; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Case Jones.

She worked in various administrative positions within Randolph County Schools and retired from Lincoln Financial, formerly known as Jefferson Pilot, in 1997. She was an active member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and dedicated much of her time to serving the church and others through the love of Christ. Peggy loved gardening and was well known for her green thumb. She was also an exceptional basketball player in high school and enjoyed playing tennis throughout her adult years. 

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Hospice of Randolph and the nurses and staff at GreyBrier Nursing Home for providing 8 years of loving care. 

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Trinity with Pastors Allen Hale and Daniel Han officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:30 PM until 3:15 PM at the church, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 138, Trinity, NC 27370.
