Mrs. Peggy Martin Burcham, 89, of Thomasville passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022 at her home. She was born in Winston-Salem to the late Edward Martin and Gladys Ascherl. Peggy was a faithful and active member of Our Lady of the Highway Catholic Church in Thomasville. She enjoyed catering and cooking for her family and church family. Peggy also enjoyed, square dancing, crocheting, playing the piano, and spending time with her family. She was always a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. On July 15, 1955 she married Eugene “Gene” Edgar Burcham, who preceded her in death on January 8, 2017. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Edward Martin and Gladys Ascherl; two grandchildren, David Joseph Kindley and Susan Kindley Boswell; and her son-in-law, Johnny Lee Kindley.
Surviving is her three sons, Alan Burcham, David M. Burcham, and Eugene "Greg" Burcham (DeAnn); four daughters, Deborah Hilliard, Sandi Kindley, Peggy Powell (Michael), and Aundrea Azelton (Christopher); one sister, Charlotte Mays (David); thirteen grandchildren, Kellee, Amanda, Erin, Ali, A.J., Rob, Bradley, Garrett, Chase, Gabe, Gray, Micki, and Emily; nine great-grandchildren, Peyton, Maddie, Ashlee, Evan, Abigail, Harper, Sutton, Nora, and Lillianna; great-great-granddaughter, Rowen Grace Fitzsimmons; and many extended family members.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 1:30 PM at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Father Gabriel Carvajal Salazar and Zachary Powell officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 12:30 till 1:15PM at the funeral home. Committal will follow the service at Carolina Biblical Gardens in Jamestown. A bereavement meal will be held following the committal at Sweet Magnolias, 1704 Liberty Drive, Thomasville, NC 27360.
