Philip Dwayne Grant

Mr. Philip Dwayne Grant, 64, of Lexington, passed away surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.  He was born on December 28, 1960 in Guilford County, NC to Ellen Faye Phillips.  He worked for Thomas Built Buses in High Point for nearly 30 years and enjoyed mechanic work, working with cars, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.  He was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church, where he was active with the Bus Ministry, Children’s Church, and the Junior Boys Sunday School Class. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Grant; his sister, Diane Ledbetter; his grandmother, Vernell Phillips; and his uncle, Darrell Phillips.

On August 26, 1991, he married Susan Ann Ultes, who survives of the home; also surviving are his sons, “Lil” Philip Grant and wife Callie of Thomasville, Joshua Dwayne Grant of Lexington, and Michael Grant and wife Katie of Thomasville; two brothers, Paul Husted and Michael Marsh, both of Thomasville; and two grandchildren, “Paw-Paw’s Little Princess”, Alydia Jane Grant and “Paw-Paw’s Little Man”, Philip “Landon” Grant.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Hughes Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Grant officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will greet friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
