Ray Von Clodfelter Obituary

Mr. Ray Von Clodfelter, 72, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Clapp’s Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden. He was born on October 29, 1952 in Lexington, NC to his parents, Geneva Everhart Clodfelter and Donald Ray Clodfelter. Ray Von retired from Thomas Built Bus where he passionately worked in the chassis production department.  Prior he worked many years at Thomasville Furniture.  He was a skillful wood craftsman and made beautiful furniture in his spare time.  He was the son of a tobacco farmer and spent his early childhood and adult life working the fields with his father.

He was a member of Fairview Church and held many jobs and teaching positions throughout his life at the church.  He never met a stranger and was a great example of living his life devoted to his Lord and Savior. Ray never complained at the trials and tribulations that he was dealt, and courageously fought through kidney disease and cancer with his strong personality and big smile.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, bee keeping and rooting for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.  The thing that brought him the most joy in his life, was that of being Paw Paw to Hunter, Sarah and Virginia.  He adored his grandchildren and was so proud of each of them.

He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Clodfelter.

Surviving is his loving wife of 48 year, Teresa Holder Clodfelter of the home; two children, Jeremy Ray Clodfelter and wife Tracy, Jessica Renee Kirschner and husband Brandon; his mother, Geneva Everhart Clodfelter; and three grandchildren; Hunter Clodfelter, Sarah Clodfelter, and Virginia Kirschner.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the men and women at Clapp’s Nursing Center for the extraordinary care and love they gave to Ray during his time there.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Church with Pastor Brian Eddinger officiating.
