Reginald Lee Shoaf Obituary

Mr. Reginald Lee Shoaf, 83, who spent his entire life as a 3rd generation resident of the Shoaf homeplace, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the Hospice Home at High Point.  He was born on April 29, 1943 in Davidson County at the Thomasville Hospital to Early Colon Shoaf and Anna Hiatt Shoaf.  He graduated from Appalachian State Teacher’s College and earned his Masters of Education Degree from UNC-Greensboro.  He was an elementary school teacher in the Surry County Schools and at several schools in Davidson County for 21 years and later retired after 9 years as an elementary counselor in the Davidson County Schools.  He was a life-long member of Mt. Pleasant Church and the Young at Heart.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Early C. Shoaf. III.


Surviving is his sister, Judy Shoaf Smith; sister-in-law, Nancy Speas Shoaf; nieces and nephews, Keith Smith (Pat), Joel Smith, Myra Smith Foltz (Mike), Jonathan Shoaf (Stephanie), and Matthew Shoaf (Andrea); great-nieces, Catrin Shoaf, Rebecca Shoaf, Harper Bosh Shoaf, and Kennedy Bosh Shoaf; and special bonus family, Tyler Atkins, Jolie, Nolan, and Jonah.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 12:00 Noon in the sanctuary at Mt. Pleasant Church with Pastor Chris Clontz and Pastor Eric Hilton officiating.  The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  A private family inurnment will be held in the Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery with Pastor Jay Bowers officiating. 


Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
