Kenneth D. Dees, age 86, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, October 27, 2023.
Born June 17, 1937, in Franklin County, Illinois, he was married to the first love of his life, the late Joyce Dees, for 64 years. They served together in the pastorate of ten different churches in Illinois, Missouri and North Carolina. He was an ordained bishop and pastor with The Church of God of Prophecy for 60+ years. Kenneth was a people person and loved helping and serving others as a hospital chaplain and taking groceries to those who were unable to get out on their own. He devoted his life to the Lord, his family and ministry and helping others at home and around the world. After retiring from the pastorate, he still kept active. He started a monthly newsletter titled “The Encourager” for seniors, in hopes of encouraging someone by the words and stories written. In 2020, he married Barbara Creasy Dees. They enjoyed sharing time together between their homes in Richmond, Kentucky and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Although their time together was shortened by his unexpected passing, they enjoyed many wonderful times together. Kenneth enjoyed playing and watching golf, reading, camping and traveling all over. Many of his travels included stopping by to see family and friends from the various pastorates throughout his ministry time. Kenneth and Joyce traveled to all 50 states and many countries.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Creasy Dees; daughters, Joy Lane and Gaye Kelley; son, Greg Dees; brother, Cecil (Christina) Dees. Kenneth was blessed with six grandchildren: Joshua (Joyce) Lane, Meagan Lane, Shawna (Jeremy) Pullen, McKayla (Garry) Schiesske, Tessa Kelley and Cheyenne Dees; eight great- grandchildren: Madison and Dawson Lane, Elijah, Sadira, Isaiah and Josiah Pullen and Kari and Maya Schiesske. He loved visiting and enjoying time together with his grands and great-grands and his children, too.
