Rev. Richard Wallace Obituary

Rev. Richard William Wallace, age 76, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, May 15, 2020 while at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  He was born on January 19, 1944 in Chesterfield, South Carolina to the late Pleasant Gilliam and Ruth Lee Wallace.  A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather he was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem.  Reverend Wallace served as Pastor to several churches throughout the years, beginning at Elon Baptist, Bethel Baptist, Open Door Baptist, Mt. Sion Baptist, retiring from Cedardale Baptist in 2011. He also worked as stock supervisor at Food Fair for 15 years and as security supervisor at Hanes Die and Finishing for 13 years.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Robyn Wallace Kilpatrick in 2000.

 

Rev. Wallace is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 33 years, Connie Brown Wallace of the home; son, Mark Wallace and wife Tammy of Winston-Salem; daughter, Krista Holder and husband Nick of Lexington; and two brothers, Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace and wife Marie of Midland, NC, and Jethro Wallace and wife Mary of Moncure, NC. He was Paw Paw to six grandchildren, Keith, Shelley, and Georgia Wallace, Chris Ledford, Brittany Sumner, and Ella Holder and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Chase, Skylar, and Dallas.

 

A funeral service with family and close friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2020 at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Wallburg with Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace officiating.  A private graveside committal will follow at Bethel UMC Cemetery.  Rev. Wallace will lie in repose prior to the service on Monday and service attendees may great the family beginning at 10:30 a.m..  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.  “Until the day breaks and shadows flee away, we will wait for our change.”
