Reverend Ronald Lee Blakley, 81, retired minister, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2023. Rev. Blakley was a dedicated minister of God serving nearly 40 years in the ministry. He was the pastor of Holloways Baptist Church, Southmont NC; Silver Springs Baptist Church, Norwood NC; Deep River Baptist Church, Ramseur NC and Southside Baptist Church of Thomasville NC. He led two of the churches through building programs.
Reverend Blakley led untold number of people to Jesus Christ and he always put God and family first in his life and ministry. He believed the Bible was the unchanging Word of God which stands as the final authority for present day and eternity. He lived each day knowing that Christ’s return is imminent and as followers we must walk by faith. He loved his family; one of his greatest joys was spending time together.
Reverend Blakley was born March 11, 1942 to the late Ernest Webb Blakley and Dorothy Spainhour Blakley in Forsyth County, NC. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves for 6 years. He graduated from Fruitland Bible Institute and Mid-Atlantic Seminary receiving a Master of Divinity degree.
Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Blakley of the home, daughter Angela Blakley of Mocksville, son Kevin Blakley and wife Amanda, granddaughter Isabella Blakley of Trinity. He is preceded in death by his sister, Judy Elliott of Thomasville.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 11 am at the J. C. Green and Sons funeral home Chapel in Thomasville with Lieutenant Commander Bradley J. Spear officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 am at the funeral home. A burial service will take place at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Thomasville with Military honors immediately following.
