Robert Avis Carter, 74 of Thomasville passed away Sunday September 6, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 6, 1946 to the late David Willis Carter, Sr. and Nona Lopp Carter in Guilford County. He was a graduate of East Davidson High School. Robert served in the United States Air Force, he was stationed at Lowry Air Force base for his training. He went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from Elon University. He worked many years as a Project Manager for Cascade Die Casting - the Atlantic Division. Robert was known for his hard work, dependability, and could fix anything. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Carter, D.W. Carter, Jr., Thomas Earl Carter; one sister, Sarah Frances Carter; one aunt, Kathleen Hilton Veach; and one brother-in-law, Girard Chambers, III.
Surviving is his loving sister, Jeanette Carter Chambers of Yorktown, Virginia.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday September 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Calvary United Church of Christ in Thomasville with Rev. Kelly Barefoot officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
