On March 14, 2025 Thomasville lost one of its most giving residents. Loved and cherished by many, Mr. Robert Dixon Reed Jr, 67, passed away peacefully on Friday with his family by his side after a long struggle with Parkinson's.
Born June 8, 1957 in Guilford County to his parents, Robert "Bob" Reed, Sr, and Colleen Parks Reed. Robert, known to many of his friends as "Wolfie", lead a full and joyous life. Owner and Operator of RDR Construction and RDR Framers, his passion for building extended well outside of his career. Always seeking ways to fix things or help those in need. A lifelong singer and musician, Robert had a natural aptitude for music. He played in many different bands in his youth and, later in life, alongside churches or travelling between nursing homes. He loved animals, especially his many dogs, and being outdoors. After retirement he began sailing, whether in the lakes of N.C. or the crystal clear seas of Hawaii where he stayed from 2014 to 2015 before returning home to be with his family and friends for the remainder of his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bob" Reed, Sr, and Brother-in-Law, Clyde Peters.
Surviving is his mother, Colleen Parks Reed; His two sons Ryan and Cory Reed (Amber), and four grandchildren; Jacob, Caroline, Cooper, and Callie; His brother, Clifton Reed, II (Laurie) and sisters, Paula Reed Purser (Henry) and Rhonda Reed Peters; as well as his niece and many nephews, extended family, and friends.
A visitation with his family will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Parkinson Disease Association, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the Davidson County Animal Shelter, the Fairgrove Family Resource Center or any other service to assist the homeless. Robert had always offered help and home to those who needed them throughout his long life. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com
