Mr. Robert Carl Benton, 75, a resident of High Rock Road, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the High Point Medical Center. He was born on September 19, 1945 in Newport News, VA to John James Benton and Mary Dorothy Gallimore Benton. He was the owner and operator of Yadkin Enterprises and was a BASS Fishing Tournament Promoter. He loved fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He was a member of the Denton Church of God and the Masonic Lodge Denton 404. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenney Blair, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Lauryn Benton; and nephew, Kevin Floyd.
On February 14, 1994, he married Dianne Wilson, who survives of the home; also surviving are his children, Jamie Benton and wife Tonia and Sharon Benton, all of Denton; step-children, Brian Kinley of Thomasville and Sonya Stone of FL; brother, Danny Floyd and wife Sandra of Trinity; sister, Pam Floyd of Trinity; five grandchildren, Brandon Benton, Austin Benton, Zak Blair, Scott Kennedy, and Jordan Kennedy; four great-granddaughters, Paisley Benton, Morgan Benton, Brooklyn Swick, and Adalyn Blair; nephew, Danny Floyd, Jr. and wife Lisa; great-nephew, Dakota Floyd; great-nieces, Ashley Floyd, Cori Floyd, and Kamrin Floyd; and beloved cousin, Dee Norris.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Denton Church of God with Rev. Jessie Howard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St. Oxford, NC 27565 or to American Kidney Foundation, 7020 Albemarle Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227.
