Roland Evon Lambeth was born on August 27, 1939 in the family home on Friendship Ledford Rd Davidson County NC to parents Lema Mendenhall Lambeth and Gilbert Wilson Lambeth. He was preceded in death by his loving mother Lema Lambeth, father Gilbert Lambeth, and ex-wife Barbara Hall Lambeth. He married Barbara Hall Lambeth April 13th, 1963 and they had two children: Tamara Yvonne Lambeth and Roland Evon (Von) Lambeth II (Amanda). He is survived by brothers Waldo Bryce Lambeth, Beauford (Ebby) Lambeth (Phoebe) and sisters Rayvena Lambeth and Gaymalia (Gabby) Lambeth Hayes; daughter Tamara Lambeth, her children Landon Bowen (Jaclyn) and Lacey Pittman; son Von Lambeth (Amanda) his children Mackenzie Lambeth, Kody Lambeth and Jekob Lambeth. His great granddaughters Victoria Vazquez and Alexis Pittman and great grandsons Landen Baize, Maverick, Maddox and Axel Bowen as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Evon also was a father figure to many others over the years while coaching softball and baseball.
Evon was owner/operator of Evon’s Garage and Trashaway from 1972-1992, proprietor of Evon’s Mobile Home Park, owner/operator of Evon and Son mowing/grading and groundskeeper for Jeff and Lynn Young since 1992.
Evon was instrumental in the development of the Wallburg Recreation Center, often using his own services and finances to build the ballfields into the park it is today. He enjoyed coaching children as well as adults for 50 years. He volunteered with the Lions Club for many years taking those who are blind on fishing trips and coordinating barbecues to raise money for the Lions Club. He served on the board of Davidson County Parks and Recreation for over 20 years. He was a member of Gumtree Fire Department and was instrumental in building the current facilities and was a faithful member of Sheriff Hege’s 101 Posse.
He was a faithful member of Faith Church, originally Faith Missionary Alliance Church, for over 54 years serving as a deacon for two terms. He loved Jesus and singing gospel songs.
He was known as “High Pockets” during his younger years when he raced at Bowman Gray Stadium and “Cowboy” later in life when he always wore a cowboy hat and boots. Throughout the most recent years he was known as a huge Trump supporter sporting a Trump ball cap proudly.
Thank you to Evon’s ”Girls” : Monique, Alisa, Laura, Sherri, Robin, Tracy and especially Glenda “Gig” Parrish Dellinger for all the food, visits, help when needed and most of all the love you showed Evon.
A very special thank you to Mountain Valley SECU Hospice House staff especially Robin who cooks the best bacon ever and a special thank you to Joslyn Pruitt for providing loving care and laughter to Dad's life the past year.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Faith Church with Pastor Michael Gates and Pastor Keith Brock officiating. A private burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. There will not be a formal visitation.
