Mr. Ronald Nelson Craven, 88, of Sanford died Sunday, July 5, 2026 at his residence.  

Ronald was born November 22, 1937, son of the late Rufus Craven and Ruby Church Craven of Thomasville. He faithfully served his country in the United States Armed Forces, retiring following a 28-year career. He also served as a Deputy Sherrif for Harnett County for over ten years. Ronald was a member of Hunt Springs Baptist Church in Sanford.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Rita Joyce Harris Craven.

Surviving are his three daughters, Caroline Walthers (Jeff) of Holt, MI, Kathrine Penley (Greg) of Huntsville, AL, Virginia Harris (Michael) of Gadsden, AL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his loving church family.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Dr. Wesley Thomas officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the chapel service. A time of gathering and visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
