Ronald “Ron” Eugene Swicegood, 84, of Haw River (previously Lexington and Thomasville), passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Compass Health and Rehab in Mebane. Ron was born November 30, 1941, in Davidson County to the late Eugene Howard Swicegood and Ina Elizabeth Bowers Swicegood. He was a member of Emanuel Reformed Church and later attended Calvary United Church of Christ in Thomasville. Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army and worked for many years in the computer technology industry. He was an avid Carolina Tar Heels fan. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Williams Swicegood of the home; daughter, Wendy Sawyer (Dr. Pat Sawyer) of Haw River; two sons, Scott Swicegood of Thomasville and Mark Swicegood (Dr. Shobit Rastogi) of Davidson; sister, Brenda S. Blackley of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Hannah Mendoza (Dominic Mendoza) of Phoenix, AZ, Patrick Sawyer of Lynchburg,VA, Nicholas Sawyer (Samantha Sawyer) of Wilmington, NC, Zoe Wood, and Parker Swicegood, both of Thomasville; and his great-grandchildren, Fox and Josephine Mendoza; Joni Sawyer.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Emanuel Reformed Church in Thomasville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2:00 PM until 2:45. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to americansassistingveterans.org.
