Ruenell Hammond Obituary

Mrs. Ruenell Thomason Hammond, 73, of Longview Road in Lexington, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at her residence.

Ruenell was born on October 18, 1946 to the late Willie Thomason and Mary Eddinger Thomason in Davidson County. She was of the Baptist faith. Ruenell was a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family deeply. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heather Causey; son in law, Shannon Causey.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Bobby Hammond, Sr. of the home; three children, Loretta Causey, Bobby Hammond, Jr. and wife Louise, J.W. Hammond and wife Katie, all of Lexington; two brothers, Everett Thomason and wife Marie, J.L. Thomason, all of Lexington; four grandchildren, Michael Hammond and wife Kathleen, April Causey, Grayson Hammond, Toby Hammond; great grandchildren, Brooke Hammond, Sawyer Hammond, Bryson Hammond; special niece, Amy Hammond; special friend, Charles Hatley; extended family and numerous friends. 

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington with Dr. Luther Spivey officiating. There will be no formal visitation. The family will greet friends at their home in Lexington. Public viewing will be on Monday from 8:30 AM until 12:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons funeral home in Thomasville. Memorials may be directed to Cancer Services of Davidson County or Hospice of Davidson County. Online condolence may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
