Sammie “Sam” Woodrow Wood, 79, of Thomasville passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at his residence.
Sam was born January 23, 1946 to the late Samuel Wood and Irene Whitlow Wood in Forsyth County. He worked in automotive part sales for 28 years for Paige Distributors of Winston-Salem and attended Southgate Baptist Church in Thomasville. Later in life, he worked for Winding Creek Golf Pro-Shop. Sam will be remembered for his love of watching Duke and the Carolina Panthers, playing golf, and was the flag man at Bowman Gray for 17 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheila Truett Wood of the home; a daughter, Angela Ragan of Thomasville; two granddaughters, Brianna Ragan and Natalie Gavitt; three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Scotty Mabe officiating. The family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Davidson County, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to extended a special “Thank You” to the staff and friends of Winding Creek for their love and support.
