Sara Langdon Clinard, 87, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Novant Health – Matthews Medical Center in Matthews, NC. She was born in Guilford County, NC, on July 17, 1933. Sara was a loving mother, sister, Nana, aunt, and friend. In 1954, she married Ray Foxx until he tragically passed away several years later. In August of 1962 she married Rev. Hubert Clinard and were married almost 54 years until Hubert passed in June of 2016. Sara loved being Hubert’s wife and was actively involved with the Methodist Churches they served. Together, Sara and Hubert served God faithfully and also shared a passion for international mission trips with Costa Rica holding a special place in their hearts. They had life-long bonds with so many who accompanied them on these mission trips. Sara graduated from Meredith College in 1954 and began her career as a teacher and was teaching when she married Hubert. Sara lovingly was a homemaker while raising their children. Later in life, she worked in the Head Start program and also served as Activities Director at Aldersgate Senior Living in Greensboro, NC. Most recently, Sara was loving her community at Windsor Run Senior Living Community in Matthews, NC where she quickly made great friends. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Sallie Langdon, her first husband Ray Foxx, her husband, Rev. Hubert Clinard, and her sister Dorothy King.
Surviving is her stepdaughter, Carol Clinard; stepson, Mike Clinard and wife Debbie; grandson, Scott and great granddaughter Melissa; son, Eric Clinard and wife Jeannie; granddaughters, Nina and Joci; daughter, Amanda Hiott and husband Mike; grandson, Joshua and granddaughter, Christin; daughter, Amy Niccolai and husband Bill; granddaughters, Hannah, Hailey, and Hope; her sister, Phyllis Gill, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm-1:00pm followed by a Celebration of her life on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Stallings United Methodist Church in Matthews, NC. Following the ceremony, a graveside service will be held at Hills Chapel United Methodist Cemetery at 3:00pm in Stanley, NC where they served from 1979-1988 and then retired to in 1994 until Sara moved to Matthews in 2018. Sara was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
