Mrs. Sarah Ann Hilton Smith, 84, a resident of Thomasville passed away after her battle with cancer on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at her home. She was born on June 14, 1936 in Davidson county to the late Harry Lee Hilton and Mary Johnson Hilton. Mrs. Smith was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and worked 32 years with Western Electric in the office before her retirement. Mrs. Smith had a love for reading and camping. She was a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Ann Journey, and one brother, Glenn Hilton.
Surviving are her husband of 23 years, Charles C. Smith of the home; two sons, Rick Journey of Thomasville, and Tim Journey and wife Shella Johnson Journey of Trinity; one granddaughter, Beth Journey of Thomasville; two sisters, Louise Boswell and husband Bob of Thomasville, and Levoe Beckerdite of Midway; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brandon Wolfe officiating at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. Mrs. Smith will lie in state on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
