Scarlett Kay Moore Tano, a cherished soul, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 66, in Lexington, North Carolina. Born on December 21, 1958, in Greensboro, N.C., Scarlett’s life was a testament to her resilience, kindness, and unwavering spirit.

Scarlett was a proud graduate of Bethany High School in Reidsville, N.C., where she established lifelong friendships and a reputation for her determination and generosity. Following her graduation, Scarlett honorably served her country in the U.S. Army. After leaving the military, Scarlett joined the workforce at PPG contributing her talents and work ethic to the community she called home. Her colleagues at PPG remember her as a dedicated and friendly presence, always ready to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement.

Scarlett’s Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and strength in times of need. She lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and by setting an example of grace and compassion for others to follow.

Scarlett’s early love for horses showcased her adventurous spirit and connection to nature. This passion blossomed into a lifelong dedication to horticulture, where she found solace and joy in the beauty of the natural world. Scarlett’s love for animals, especially her dogs, was unmistakable. Scarlett’s pets were not just companions but members of her family, receiving the same love and care she extended to her human relatives.

Scarlett’s journey through life leaves behind a legacy of warmth and love. She was preceded in death by her father, Oma Moore, her mother, Deloris Scarlett Moore, and her brother, Bruce Moore. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive by her husband Gregory Tano, her son Dylan Tano, her sister Rebekah Moore Simpson, and her husband Ronald Simpson, who will miss her dearly.

Scarlett’s life was one of purpose, joy, and connection. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her, yet her influence will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of her loved ones. Scarlett Kay Tano’s story is one of a life well-lived, marked by service, passion, and an enduring love for all living things. As we bid her farewell, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was, and we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives.
