Sharon Kay Fields King, 81, of Denton went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. Sharon was born October 3, 1944 in Guilford County to the late Garland Fields and Hilda Kersey Fields Winslow. Sharon was a faithful member of Concord Friends Meeting in Greensboro and loved to sing in the choir. Through the years she received great joy participating in waterskiing and roller skating. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed treating her beloved family. She had a nurturing spirit for wildlife and rescuing cats. In 1982, she received the Eliza Armstrong Cox Fellowship of the United Society of Friends Women award. Sharon was a faithful wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend; she will be greatly missed. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Mary L. Swiggette Kersey; and her step-father, Harrison Winslow.
Surviving is her loving husband of 64 years, Charles King, of the home; son, David King and wife Michelle; grandson, Clint King and wife Brittany; one brother, Kenny Fields; and three step-sisters, Jeannie, Lisa and Lori. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her gracious caregivers, JoAnn McDowell, Julie Everhart, and Donna Lookabill.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Concord Friends Meeting, 5000 Old Randleman Rd, Greensboro, NC 27406 with Rev. Greg Creed and Rev. Elton Wilborne officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.
