Sheila Faye Yates Ward

Ms. Sheila Faye Yates Ward, 74, of Winston-Salem and formerly of Thomasville, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 at her home.  She was born on November 26, 1950 in Lexington, Davidson County, NC to Herbert Lee Yates and Juanita Ryder Yates.  She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from UNC-G and retired in October 2015 from Research & Analytical, where she was a bio-chemist.  She was a member of Holly Hill Wesleyan Church for over 60 years and attended Reynolda Church in Kernersville.  She loved her family, Jesus, the outdoors, her garden, flowers, and bird watching, her dachshunds, and crafts, which she loved making and giving to people to make them smile.  She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Lee Yates.

Surviving in addition to her mother, Juanita of Thomasville are her daughters, Samantha Hicks and husband Steve and Stephanie Ward, all of Thomasville; her son, Seth Ward of Thomasville; her sisters, Debra Duncan and husband Oscar of Sophia and Wanda Yates of Thomasville; her grandchildren, Cailin Paige Hicks Everhart and husband Keaton, and Gillian Faith Richardson and husband Ben; two great-grandchildren, Oliver Everhart and Marigold Everhart; her niece, Jennifer Duncan; and three great-nephews, Michael Jones, Jr., Matthew Jones, and Miles Jones.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 beginning at 2:00 PM at Reynolda Church - Kernersville Campus, 367 W. Bodenhamer Street, Kernersville, NC 27284 with Pastor Barrett Johnson officiating.
