Sherrie Waud Obituary

Mrs. Sherrie Ann Fischer Waud, 74, of Lexington, NC went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born to Albert and Elsie Fischer on December 19th, 1946 in Orlando, FL.  She was the youngest of five children.  She attended Hobe Sound Bible College in FL where she met her husband Loyal Waud. She married Loyal August 27, 1967 and in 1968 they became the first married couple to graduate together from HSBC. Sherrie was called to be a missionary as a young child.  God called them both to be missionaries in Peru, South America.  They arrived on the Peruvian field while Sherrie was expecting their first child. Their oldest two children were born in Peru.  They served in Peru for five years, Nicaragua for eight months, at an Orphanage in Kentucky for two years and on the border of Mexico for eight years. Her family moved to NC in 1986.  Sherrie served at Carolina Christian Academy in Thomasville for a couple years. She also worked in Spanish ministries, including interpreting for her church at Faith Community Chapel, where she attended for many years.

Sherrie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and son Ethan Waud.  Sherrie is survived by Loyal Waud, her loving husband of 53 years; five children, Samuel Waud (Teresa), Pamela Blowers (Stephen), Jenny Holden (Eric), Jessica Byerly (Patrick), Daniel Gonzales (Erica); sixteen grandchildren, Tequila Macon, Tawame Watts, Agape Blowers, Daniel Blowers, Ester Blowers, Benjamin Blowers, Anna Blowers, Ethan Blowers, Abigail Blowers, Elizabeth Blowers, Emily Holden, Isaac Holden, Jeremy Byerly, Savannah Byerly, Isaac Gonzales, Maylynn Gonzales and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 5:00 PM at Faith Community Chapel in Thomasville, NC with Rev. Jonathan Heath and Rev. Mike Mater officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral in the church. Memorials may be given to the missionary organization of your choice.
