Shirley "Carolyn" Evans Obituary

Shirley “Carolyn” Evans, 77, of Thomasville passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at her home. Carolyn was born August 19, 1948 in Brunswick County, North Carolina to the late Ezekiel Evans and Hattie Elneta Register Evans. Carolyn was a graduate of Waccamaw High School in 1966, where she served in various capacities such as student council and homecoming queen. After getting married she moved to the Thomasville area and started a career in quality control in the hosiery business. Which began with Influential Hosiery who later became Hanes Brand where she worked 53 years until her retirement. Carolyn loved working in the yard, tending to her flowers and she loved growing many different types of hostas, day lilies, and also Japanese maples. Carolyn was the recipient of the yard of the month from the city of Trinity. She also enjoyed making floral arrangements, and was passionate in cooking for friends and family. She also loved spending time at the beach, and very much enjoyed the “girl trips” to the mountains to go shopping. She was a loving wife, mother, mawmaw, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Mable Mooney; two brothers, Boyd Evans and Marvin Evans; one nephew, Milton Milliken.

On November 5, 1966, she married Windell “Dickie” Elbert Evans, who survives of the home; also surviving is her son, Anthony Evans and wife Crystal of Thomasville; one sister, Marie Milliken and husband Norwood of Calabash; three grandchildren, Bryce Evans and wife Amber of Walnut Cove, Tanner Evans of Thomasville, and Trevor Evans of Thomasville; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Liam.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Mr. Brad Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Davidson County and her nurse Ashley, who provided exceptional care.
