Stella Mae (Shores) Saunders

Stella Mae Shores Saunders, 89, of Thomasville passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 3, 2021. Stella was born July 27, 1932 to the late Paul Nelson Shores and Leona Hollman Shores in Yadkin County, North Carolina. She was a member of True Church of God. Stella enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and tending to her yard. She had a green thumb and could make every flower flourish.  She loved her family dearly. She was such a loving soul, and will be greatly missed by many. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Newton Saunders; two sons, Paul Garris (Spider), David Lee Garris (Doc); three brothers, Nelson Shores, Ray Shores, David Shores (Boss Hog); one great-granddaughter, Aliyah Garris; two great-grandsons, Jerry Dean (MoMo) Garris, III, Jay Garris; two sisters, Mildred Stewart, Mary Hunt.

Surviving are her two sons, Jerry Garris, Jimmy Ray Garris; one daughter, Jackie Flowers; one sister, Velma Driver; seventeen grandchildren; and many beloved great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 11:00AM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville with Rev. Clarence Stoneman and Rev. Bear Powell officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
