Susie Crotts Obituary

Miss Susie Crotts, 85, of Thomasville, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Piedmont Crossing. She was born in Davidson County on June 20, 1940, to the late Odell and Mae Clodfelter Crotts.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Community Chapel in Thomasville on Saturday, September 6, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Randall Crotts, Rev. Joe Smith, Rev. David Stetler, and Rev. Jonathan Heath officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

Susie graduated from Central Davidson High School and Ashmore Business College. She worked in the business office of Siler Funeral Home before starting a long career at Thomasville Furniture Industries. Following her retirement from TFI, she volunteered at the Thomasville Hospital. In addition to her professional career, Susie served as the pianist for Free Pilgrim Church for many years and was a charter member of Faith Community Chapel.

In addition to her parents, Miss Crotts was preceded in death by five sisters and their companions; Alease (Grayson) Crook; Kate (G.W.) Carrick, Jr., Betty (DeWeerd) Lambeth, Rachel (David) Hepler, & Janell (Dempsey) Fritts; and two brothers and their companions; Lewin (Helen) Crotts, & Billy (Betty Jo) Crotts. Also preceding Susie in death was a niece, Debbie Hepler Utz; and two nephews, Jerry Lambeth and Wayne Embler; a great nephew, Anthony Lambeth.

Left to cherish Susie’s memory are nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, several great, great nieces and nephews, and one great, great, great niece. She loved them all. They affectionately called her “Aunt Susie”, and she claimed them all as her “children.” Susie’s life could be summed up by Jesus’ description of a true Christian. “Love God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself!” She lived those commands through investments of time, money, interest, and her exceptional music ability. From faithfully sending birthday cards to playing the organ for over 40 years at Faith Community Chapel, she always made an impact on everyone around her. Her family and a host of friends will truly miss her.
