Terry Lee Gibbs

Mr. Terry Lee "Big T" Gibbs, age 65, of Kernersville, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after several months of declining health. He was born on August 4, 1958 in Forsyth County to the late Irvin M. Gibbs and Betty Jean Gibbs. Terry graduated East Forsyth High School in 1976 where he was actively involved in sports, specifically wrestling. Terry was a talented drummer and performed for a number of years with the local Southern Gospel group “The Hallmarks.”  He retired from Swaim Furniture, Inc where he was a supervisor. Into adulthood, Terry enjoyed being involved in sports as well as watching them. He played church softball at Waughtown Baptist Church, and he coached his daughter in softball. Much of this changed for Terry 16 years ago when he was involved in a major motorcycle accident. He survived this traumatic accident but lived with physical impairments and medical conditions secondary to the accident. Terry continued to find joy in life with his daughter Heather and especially with the birth of his grandson, Emerson. He became the joy and light of Terry’s life. Big T loved being a pawpaw!

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Irvin, and his mother, Betty. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Nicole Gibbs; his grandson, Emerson Lee Gibbs; brother, Wayne Gibbs (Janelle); sister, Lisa Price (Eddie); and special best friend, Billy Parrish (Pam.)

There will be family visitation and a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N. NC Hwy 109 Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
