Mr. Terry Lewis Smith, 72, a resident of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. A lifelong resident of the Davidson County area Terry was born December 1, 1952 in Davidson County a son of the late Aaron Smith and the late Eva (Banks) Kennedy who preceded him in death.
Terry was an electrical contractor owning and operating Terry L. Smith Electric. He served in the National Guards, was an avid sports fan including the UNC Tar Heels, NASCAR especially Dale Earnhart, and Atlanta Braves. Terry loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren in their activities. He was President of Wallburg Athletic Club, President of the Wallburg Pool and he had a good sense of humor. Terry was a member of Abbott’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife Joni Craven Smith whom he married November 24, 1984.
Also surviving are his sons, Jason R. Smith and his wife Shea, Ty Smith and his wife Kimberly all of Wallburg; his daughter, Heather Smith Wenzel and her husband Glen of Wallburg; his sisters, Priscilla “Joyce” Groseclose and her husband Bob of Clemmons, Phillis Tuttle and her husband Mike of Kernersville; grandchildren, Delaney Smith, Madie Smith, Haven Smith, Molly Smith, Jason Wenzel, Jordan Wenzel, Easton Smith and Maci Smith all of Wallburg and a niece and nephews as well as extended family. Terry’s family would like to say a special “thank you” to Dr. Ted Nifong and Hospice of Davidson County.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 19, 2025 at the Abbott’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Livengood officiating. Interment will follow in the Abbott’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N. NC Highway 109, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.The family request those attending the service to dress casually, including jeans, your UNC shirts or other sports shirts etc. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC, 27292.
