Mr. Terry Lee Younts, 91, a life-long resident of Randolph County, passed away Saturday morning, March 14, 2026 at his residence.
Terry was born September 13, 1934 the son of the late Baxter Paul Younts and Fleta Mae Barnes in Randolph County. He served his country in the United States Army and before his service in the military he worked as an outside upholsterer for Thomasville Furniture. Terry was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Methodist Church of Trinity, where he sang in the choir, served on the administrative council and was Chairman of the Trustees. In addition to the local church, he served in the local community as a Scout Leader and Scout Master for Troop 25 Archdale and Assistant Scout Master for Troop 108 Silver Valley. He was a founding board member of Tabernacle Fire Department, member of Tabernacle Lions Club for nearly its entire existence, and later Farmer Lions Club. Terry owned and operated Younts Brothers Saw Mill for nearly 30 years with his brother Delmar. He and Delmar enjoyed working together building the home of their parents. Also, Terry built the home in which he raised his family and was so proud of doing so. He enjoyed working the farm, growing gardens, and found value in hard work. In all aspects of Terry’s life, he went above and beyond to serve others. Terry will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his siblings, Delmar Younts and Betty Mae Ridge; five infant siblings. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Nancy Alice (Crater) Younts, of the home; a daughter, Deborah Faith “Debbie” Medlin and husband Randy of Lexington; a son, Terry Lee “Buddy” Younts, II of Trinity; a brother, Paul Younts, Jr and wife Linda.; two sisters, Barbara “Jean” Saunders and Sandra Lynn “Sandy” Younts both of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Tiffany Faith Medlin Williams, Adam Kent Medlin and wife Emily, Carrie Huffman, Connor Paul Younts; sister-in-law, Alice Younts; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
A gathering of friends will be held Saturday night, March 21, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Tabernacle Church of Trinity at 2:00 PM with Rev. Lynn Chaney, and Rev. Bob Chaney officiating. Military honors will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Tabernacle Church of Trinity, 213 Tabernacle Church Road Ext, Trinity, NC 27370.
