Thelma Ellen (Griffith) Kelly

Thelma Ellen Griffith Kelly, 93, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Thelma was born May 24, 1931 in Marion County, Indiana a daughter of the late Louis Oliver Griffith and the late Virgie Marie Truex. As a homemaker she enjoyed cooking being a care taker, volunteering. She was a member of the Studebaker Car Club of Indiana as well as member other car clubs, was a 4H leader, Girl Scout Leader, was a loving mother, grandmother and teacher. She was Gigi to her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Thelma was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James P. Kelly, her brothers, Henry H. Griffith and Louis E. Griffith.

Those left to cherish her memory is her son, James (Jim) P. Kelly, Jr. and his wife Tina of Maryland; daughter, Susan Ellen Welch and her husband Charles of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Brianna Kelly, James R. Welch and his wife Amanda, Christopher A. Welch and his wife Taylor, Natalie S. Hilmandolar and her husband Clayton; great-grandchildren, Siena Welch, Camden Welch, Brooks Hilmandolar and Stella Hilmandolar.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Unity United Methodist Church, 608 National Highway, Thomasville, NC 27360 with Rev. Lisa Johnston officiating. There will not be a formal visitation. Memorial contributions in Thelma’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5001 S.
