Thomas Cleveland Leonard, 85, of Lexington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Grayson Creek Assisted Living. Thomas was born September 24, 1939, in Davie County to the late Marvin Leonard and Viola Sparks Leonard. Thomas served his country in the United States National Guard. He was the owner of Leonard Builders for numerous years. He was a member of Cross Point Church, where he served on the building committee. He was a former president of the Davidson County Home Builders Association and retired as a volunteer fireman with the West Lexington Fire Department. He loved farming, golfing, NASCAR, logging, and spending time outdoors. His greatest joy in life was the time and memories he made with his beloved family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; he will be greatly missed. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Lee Weaver, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gray and Dorothy Koontz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Tonia “Toni” Koontz Leonard of the home; two daughters, Melanie Beeson and husband Joel, and Marlin Bradberry and husband Tim; one brother, Max Leonard (Lynn); three sisters, Peggy Kepley, Betty Weaver, and Shelby Orrell; and five grandchildren, Seth Beeson and wife Danielle, Ryan Beeson and wife Megan, Lauryn Vincent and husband Michael, Nikalas Bradberry and wife Audrey, and Adam Bradberry; two great-grandchildren, Levi Beeson and Orin Bradberry.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Cross Point Church, 310 Biesecker Rd., Lexington, NC 27295, with Rev. Michael Greer officiating. Interment will follow at Beulah United Church of Christ in Lexington. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the church from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Cross Point Church Building Fund.
