Thomas Clyde Griffin

Thomas (Tommy) Clyde Griffin, 81, of Kernersville, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023.  He was born on May 7,1942 to Clyde Griffin and Alma Watson Griffin.  He married Wanda Hodges Griffin on October 18, 1969 and together had children Billy Griffin (Harmony Daniels Griffin) of Fort Myers, Florida and Tracie Griffin Bailey (Jim Bailey) of Trinity. He was loved and adored by 5 grandchildren Dillon, Brice, Cooper (Billy), Owen and Eli (Tracie).

Tommy was born in Kernersville, graduated from Kernersville Senior High School and eventually retired from RJR Archer Inc. Tommy was outgoing, witty and always wanted to make others laugh. He had a love for making music, playing golf, fishing and rooting for the Atlanta Braves. Tommy spent many years volunteering as a baseball/softball coach at South Little League, assisting with the Boy Scouts, and was heavily involved with the Athletic Booster Club at Glenn High School.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife. In addition to his children, he is survived by his sister Martha Meadows of Winston-Salem and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3929 Johnson Street, High Point. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Eric Peacock.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Novant Health Cancer Institute - Kernersville for the excellent care they provided over many years.
