Thomas "Bernard" Bowden, Sr

Mr. Thomas “Bernard” Bowden Sr, 61, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at his home. He was born in Greensboro, NC to his parents, the late Lorraine Miller Bowden and Melvin Bowden. Bernard worked several years as a mechanic and especially loved his blue Mustang. He also loved spending time with his son drag racing and loved socializing with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rebecca Miller; brother, Gary Miller, and one niece, LaDawnne Campbell.

Surviving is his loving wife, Betty Teal Bowden of the home; his only son, Thomas Bowden, Jr; Jada Duncan and Donovan Teal as well as Zaydon Teal whom he raised; his siblings, Eddie Bowden(Penny), Amy Campbell (Ed), Sterling Bowden (Cynthia), and Kenneth Bowden; as well as  a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville.
