Velma Driver Obituary
Velma Jean Shores Driver, 81, of Thomasville went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington.
Velma was born September 20, 1944, daughter of the late Paul Nelson Shores and Leona Hollman Shores of Surry County. She worked in the furniture industry for many years before her declining health. Velma loved a good fishing trip, shopping the thrift stores, and most of all, loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her mom and dad, she was preceded in death six siblings, Ray, David, Stella, Mildred, Marie, and Nelson.
Surviving are her daughter and caregiver, Wendy Corder (Elisha) of the home; a son, Clifford “Hodge” Call; five grandchildren, Joseph, Sandra, Mary, Kayla (Drew), Kanani; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
To honor Velma’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
