William "Billy" Lowell Russell

William “Billy” Lowell Russell, 83, of Thomasville passed away on April 19, 2022 at High Point Medical Center.

Bill was born on June 11, 1938 to the late Cled Russell and Lola Harris Russell in Montgomery County. He played football for Troy High School. Bill served his country in the United States Army during the Bay of Pigs Invasion and later made his career in furniture industry working with Thomasville Furniture Ind., Commercial Carving, and then retiring from Conner Carving and Turning Company. He was an avid craftsman, making many things out of wood. Also, landscaping, tractor work and cooking he enjoyed in his later years. Bill was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Troy.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Bobbie Lee Holland Russell, who passed away on December 14, 2019; three sisters, Agnes Dennis, Madge Lanier, Sue Rothrock; five brothers, John Leonard Russell, Eugene Russell, Homer Russell, Dwight Russell, and Deveraux Russell.

He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and many friends he claimed as family.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Fred Ingle officiating. Burial will follow at Center UMC Cemetery in Troy. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be given to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
