Windell Elbert Evans Obituary

Windell Elbert Evans, 80, of Thomasville passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at his home. Windell was born August 24, 1945 in Columbus County to the late Windell Evans and Lula Blanche Canady Evans. He was a member of Southgate Baptist Church. Windell was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He worked for almost fifty years as a truck driver with Thomas Built Buses and after retirement, he began working at A.M. Haire as a truck driver. Over the years made trips all over the United States and went to Canada twice week. He owned and operated his own landscaping business and had numerous clients. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing peanuts. He loved to go fishing, deep-sea fishing at the beach, and tubing at the lake. His greatest joy life was the time spend with his family and grandkids. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley "Carolyn" Evans on October 31, 2025; one sister, Lucille Watts.

Surviving is his son, Anthony M. Evans and wife Crystal of Thomasville; one brother, Wilbert “Shortie” McLamb and wife Katherine of High Point; one sister, Webbie Evans of Ash, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Bryce Evans and wife Amber of Walnut Cove, Tanner Evans of Thomasville, and Trevor Evans of Thomasville; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Liam.

A joint funeral service with his wife, Carolyn Evans, will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Mr. Brad Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
